Builds are not Apple-signed. macOS may say the app is “damaged and can’t be opened” or block it as unrecognized. That is Gatekeeper quarantine — not a corrupt file.
- Open the .dmg or .zip, then drag PopcornTimeX to Applications.
- Open Terminal and run:
xattr -cr /Applications/PopcornTimeX.app - Open PopcornTimeX from Applications. If macOS still warns, right-click the app and choose Open.
The .zip is optional convenience only. It does not remove Gatekeeper; only signing and notarization do that.
Install on Linux
- Save PopcornTimeX-linux.AppImage to your computer.
- Open Terminal in the download folder and make it executable:
chmod +x PopcornTimeX-linux.AppImage - Launch it with:
./PopcornTimeX-linux.AppImage
Install on Windows
- Open PopcornTimeX-win.exe after it finishes downloading.
- If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen appears, select More info, then Run anyway.
- Follow the installer prompts to complete setup.
